I joined Deloitte Digital as a consultant and in span of 8 years stepped up to become the Creative Director leading 80+ designers across 4 locations in India.

In 2012, Deloitte had acquired Ubermind, an innovative mobile agency. Post acquisition it setup a new digital arm within Deloitte called ‘Deloitte Digital’ globally.
I was part of the initial core team that established the Studios in India. I played a pivotal role of a Design Strategist in large-scale digital transformation engagements as well as I contributed in growing and mentoring the design practice.

In this space I have listed my roles and responsibilities other than the Client Design projects.

Strategy for Hiring designers to support India scale-up of Deloitte Studios

Between 2012 - 2015, I focused on the Hiring strategy for designers with other leaders in the organisation. The design team was scaled in 4 locations in India - Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Gurgaon.

We streamlined the portfolio screening process, outlined few case studies that would become part of the interview rounds, defined the feedback matrix which would be used to rate the candidate. In later years I also worked closely with the HR team in defining the compensation tiers and benefits for the designers at different levels basis market benchmarking.

Design Competency Framework

I developed the design competency framework to aid designers in understanding their roles and responsibilities, while also serving as a crucial component during the performance review process.

Designathons, Bootcamps and Onboarding Sessions

Once you build a large team, the mantle is assigned to the leader to build the right culture within that team. The best part of being part of Deloitte Digital was that it gave us complete ownership and empowered us to build the culture the way we wanted it.

I worked closely with my mentor and 2 peers to organise multiple events and initiatives which would help designers thrive.

Few of the initiatives that I supported as a leader were :

  • Designathon - A full day design day which allowed multiple groups of designers to work on different problem statements

  • Bootcamps - Training plan for designers to learn design tools, share new design trends, critic new products/apps, showcase project work.

  • Onboarding Sessions - 3 Day induction program for new hires (campus and lateral)
